About Us
Big Apple Honor Flight (BAHF) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to fly veterans from NYC to DC to honor them for all their sacrifices. We transport these heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials at no cost to them.
We are a local chapter of the National Honor Flight Network (which consists of over 130 independent nonprofit “hubs” across America). Big Apple Honor Flight had our Inaugural Flight out of JFK International Airport on April 29, 2017 . BAHF serves all five boroughs of NYC flying veterans from the following counties: Kings, Queens, New York, Richmond, & Bronx. Top priority is given to those of the “Greatest Generation”, that of World War II, and terminally ill veterans from other wars on a first-come-first-served basis. We plan to take ALL veterans from other wars on future flights. Applications will be kept on file. Currently, over 430 World War II veterans die everyday, our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out. “We can’t all be heroes. Some of us have to stand on the curb and clap as they go by.” – Will Rogers |
