Big Apple Honor Flight recognizes American veterans for your sacrifices and achievements by flying you to Washington, D.C. to see YOUR memorial at no cost. Top priority (for which we are currently accepting applications) is given to World War II, Korean War, and terminally ill veterans from all wars.
BAHF has begun taking veterans from the Cold War and Vietnam War and we encourage ALL veterans to submit an application so that we have it on file. Guardians fly with the veterans on every flight providing assistance and helping veterans have a safe, memorable, and rewarding experience.
If you know of someone who is a World War II or Korean War veteran or a veteran with a terminal illness, please fill out an application and send it in or submit an online application form.
**Please note: While the application asks if you have a guardian that would like to accompany you on the trip, we do have many WILLING, EAGER guardians on our waiting list who would love the privilege of escorting one of our veterans. Providing your own guardian is NOT required, however, if a family member would like to serve as your guardian, they MUST fill out the guardian form. Please note that spouses are not permitted to serving as guardians. See below for more information on becoming a guardian.**

Big Apple Honor Flight will not be successful without the generous support of our guardians. Guardians play a significant role on every trip, ensuring that every veteran has a safe and memorable experience. Duties include physically assisting the veterans at the airport, during the flight, and at the memorials as well as ensuring that their veteran in comfortable and enjoying every moment of their trip.
In addition to providing support to our veterans on flight day, guardians also subsidize the cost of our flight by paying their own way. The cost to be a guardian is $500. Please make checks payable to Big Apple Honor Flight. Your check will ONLY be cashed once you have been accepted as a guardian on an upcoming flight (you will also receive an acceptance letter in the mail).
Due to the fact that guardians who are requested by name on the veterans’ applications are given priority, there is no guarantee that filling out this application will reserve you a spot on the upcoming flight. However, you will immediately be placed on our waiting list, which will carry over to future flights.

This organization is being brought to NYC by volunteers who started Hudson Valley Honor Flight, a hub just north of NYC. HVHF has been taking a few city veterans on each of their flights over the past 4 years out of Stewart International Airport & Westchester County Airport but they feel it is important to see the NYC community embrace their own hub to be able to take ALL interested NYC veterans to see their memorials before it is too late.
